Ip Chun Chi Sao and Dragon 2015
Thank you Sifu Ip Chun for teaching me. In the past, Sifu used to practise Chi Sau for about 5 minutes, and this time he obviously felt his physical strength made the time had increased. At the beginning of the Chi Sau, Sifu reminded me to sit down(Jon Ma). I immediately improved my Sit down(Jon Ma). During the process, I felt that Sifu Ip Chun's Ma Bo (Horse Stance) was very stable and had a forward force. The hands were relaxed, and his reaction was fast, and his body was very flexible .
It did not look like a 94-year-old man. I believe that if you have not practiced Chi Sau with him, you will never know how it felt. Although I did not learn the system and practice Chi Sau with SiGung (Grandmaster) Ip Man. I am fortunate enough to have felt the energy and feeling of SiGung Ip Man through Sifu Ip Chun. This feeling is very helpful for my inspiration and learning. For which I give thanks. Can you see it in the video, He often attacks me through my left hand? I asked Sifu Ip Chun about this afterwards. His answer was that my left hand is not enough to protect myself in the Centre line.
He felt I could easily receive attacks from the left-hand side. He suggested that I practice the Siu Nim Tau, Fuk Sau part of the form more and use slower speeds. In the video, everyone will see him push me once. This proves that his Ma Bo is very stable and the force is in place. But I believe that there will be a lot of people who have a question after watching the video. For example, Is your younger strength able to defeat him? Did you let him have advantage?
I need to make it very clear, that Sifu Ip Chun is 94 years old. We practiced the Chi Sau of Wing Chun. Sifu Ip Chun Sifu explained the concept of 以柔制剛 which basically means using the "soft power overcome to hard energy" in Wing Chun. In this process of Chi Sau, I can tell you that Sifu Ip Chun is really playing to the extreme. I personally admire and benefitted from this experience. So I feel that I am sharing my experiences with you. I believe that if I am at his age, I will still have such skills and mentality, with this I am satisfied. This is what I think was the most worthwhile moment of learning through him.
